CRAFT Circles Educators
A CRAFT Circle Educator (CCE) is a specialized professional who works directly with clients who have a partner or family member with a substance use disorder, guiding them in applying evidence-based Community Reinforcement and Family Training principles to their daily lives.
Unlike traditional counselors or therapists, CCE's focus specifically on teaching practical behavioral strategies that empower clients to positively influence their loved one's substance use patterns while simultaneously improving their own wellbeing.
Through a structured yet personalized approach, these educators help clients master key skills including strategic positive reinforcement, effective communication techniques, recognition of use patterns, and appropriate boundary setting.
CCE's combine compassionate support with actionable guidance, helping clients implement these skills in their unique family contexts, troubleshoot challenges as they arise, and measure progress over time. This specialized role bridges the gap between educational resources and clinical intervention, providing the hands-on support and accountability necessary for clients to effectively transform their relationship dynamics and support their loved one's path toward recovery.
Harm Reduction Educators
Our Harm Reduction Educators (HRE) work alongside clients with active substance use disorders, building trusting relationships to help identify practical ways to reduce risks and improve wellbeing. Our HRE's at CRAFT Circles are compassionate professionals offers personalized guidance on safer use practices, overdose prevention, infection control, and accessing community resources—all without judgment or pressure to achieve abstinence.
They meet clients exactly where they are, respecting their autonomy while providing evidence-based information that empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their health and safety. Harm Reduction Educators often serve as crucial navigators between clients and healthcare systems that can feel intimidating or unwelcoming.
HRE's at CRAFT Circles advocate for their clients' needs while helping to address barriers to care such as stigma, transportation challenges, or negative past experiences. Drawing on trauma-informed approaches, they recognize how past experiences shape current behaviors and create spaces where healing can begin on the client's terms.
They develop tailored safety plans that acknowledge each person's unique circumstances and priorities. Through regular check-ins and ongoing support, Harm Reduction Educators at CRAFT Circles celebrate every positive step, no matter how small, recognizing that improvement comes in many forms and at different paces for each person's unique journey.
Our HRE's also have sessions with family members or partners who are participating in CRAFT Circles to explain what harm reduction is and discuss the spectrum of options available for recovery. Family members and partners have a strong influence with their loved ones, and being being informed of the recovery options allows for immediate action when the loved one is ready to begin.
